Modified Sine Inverters

A modified sine wave inverter actually has a waveform more like a square wave, but with an extra step or so. A modified sine wave inverter will work fine with most equipment, although the efficiency or power will be reduced with some. A modified sine wave inverter might not be able to maintain a continuous supply of power of the same quality. Motors, such as refrigerator motor, pumps, fans etc will use more power from the inverter due to lower efficiency.

A modified sine wave inverter can adequately power some household appliances and power tools. It is cheaper, but may present certain compromises with some loads such as computers, microwave ovens, laser printers, clocks and cordless tool chargers. If you just need to run lights and fans during a power cut, its better to go for a modified sine wave inverter, which is affordable and enough for your need.
